OVERVIEW
This course will be presented in three modules. The first will address
the biomechanical considerations of the precision retained partial
denture. It will cover the proper use of intra and extracoronal attachments
and include an informative slide series and demonstration documenting
several of the more popular attachment systems. Next, the segmenting
of fixed bridgework will be
presented, including those attachments used with non parallel abutments,
and those used in future conversion to removable prostheses. Special
attention will be given to those attachments used with implants.Thirdly,
the overdenture will be considered. This rapidly growing area of dentistry
will be discussed from the biomechanical as well as clinical aspect,
including slides and demonstration of both stud and bar systems. Once
again, those attachments that have
become popular for implant prosthetics will be considered in detail.
