Dental Assistant Implant Certification Course
MARLENE SCHMITZ, C.D.A.

OVERVIEW
The focus will be on the role of the clinical dental assistant throughout various stages of implant therapy; predominantly treatment planning and responsibilities associated with surgical and prosthetic implant procedures. The program will examine case presentation, and indicators for success and identifying complications. Attendees will explore different theories of implant management and receive a comprehensive view of current clinical procedures related to Implantology.

OBJECTIVES
• Identify patients who should benefit from implant therapy
• Develop terminology relevant to presenting implant cases to patients
• Identify potential medical & medicinal complications related to implant dentistry
• Describe important techniques for effective case presentation
• Understand the laboratory procedures involved in implant therapy
• Identify the steps involved in complex surgical implant cases
• Learn the techniques involved in constructing implant temporaries
• Understand medical/legal implications associated with dental implantology
• Recognize the maxillary and mandibular anatomic considerations associated with implant placement
• Describe the fundamental presurgical, surgical, and postsurgical procedures for implant placement

PRESENTER
MARLENE SCHMITZ, C.D.A.
, graduated from Monroe Community College Dental Assisting Program in Rochester, New York in 1995. Ms. Schmitz has over 200 surgical and prosthetic continuing education hours through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and International Congress of Oral Implantologists. She is also certified as an Implant Assistant by Midwest Implant Institute at the University of Buffalo, and conscious sedation management with IV and nitrous sedation in general dentistry at Montifiore Medical Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She has also obtained a Fellowship from the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries and Practice Management/Affiliate of International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
