Lecture/Participation Course Dental Allied Personnel are Invited
Clinical Intraoral Digital Photography

OVERVIEW
This course will cover essential elements of digital intraoral photography including equipment selection, lighting requirements, mirror / retractor use and present a standard photo series to document clinical findings at initial appointment, during treatment, and final clinical outcome. Following a brief lecture on basic photographic principles, participants will engage in a “hands-on” workshop where they will gain experience in producing a standard intraoral photographic series. Participants wishing to become more proficient with their own office intraoral photography system are welcome to bring and use their own equipment during the workshop.

OBJECTIVES
Understand the photographic principles essential to create an accurate digital photographic record for clinical documentation purposes.
• Identify the photographic equipment required to document patient treatment needs.
• Utilizing the photographic equipment provided, take a clinical photo documentation series
involving: maxillary and mandibular occlusal photographs, right and left buccal, anterior, face front, face side/profile, smile and a final photo for the office bulletin board.

PRESENTERS
JOHN W. PREECE, D.D.S, M.S., received his D.D.S. degree from Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, Illinois and his M.S. degree from the University of Alabama, School of Dentistry in Birmingham. Dr. Preece joined the faculty at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1975, and is a Professor in the Department of Dental Diagnostic Science at the Health Science Center.

BRUNO AZEVEDO, D.D.S., First year resident In Maxillofacial Radiology in the Department of Dental Diagnostic Science at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

ARAF GHAYYATH, D.D.S., Third year resident in Maxillofacial Radiology in the Department of Dental Diagnostic Science at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
