OVERVIEW
Recently, Dr. Meador consulted with a dentist and each member of
the dental staff, auditing the efficiency and effectiveness of
each of
the work stations in the dental office. One of the dental hygienists
followed up with a letter to Dr. Meador, “Since you evaluated
and re-arranged our office, I am amazed at the energy I now have in
the late afternoon of each day.” Such a testimonial is a result
of the attention to the details of a work station evaluation and
task analysis enabling the dental staff member to increase
speed and reduce fatigue to a remarkable degree and ultimately improve
production. The purpose of this course is to provide a workstation
evaluation and task analysis for each staff member in the dental
office. Because each
staff member's workstation has its own characteristics and special
features, it is beneficial for each member to be present at this
course. This presentation
will help to prepare each member to be a self-evaluator
in terms of the application of ergonomics principles at his/her workstation.
The information should be beneficial for the well being of each staff
member to reduce the level of fatigue and to better facilitate
the efficiency of his or her working environment.
OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this course, participants should understand:
• The proper posture based on ergonomic and orthopaedic principles
•
How “work motions” can be developed to stay in the “envelope
of efficiency”
• The relationship of energy conservation to efficiency of task performance
• The ideal floor plan for their workstation to provide a more effective
work environment
• Suggestions to deal with less than ideal conditions
