Interdisciplinary Approach to Esthetic Treatment
BRIAN L. MEALEY, D.D.S., M.S.

OVERVIEW
Patients with potential esthetic problems or concerns often present a complex challenge to the dental treatment team. Questions arise such as, "What do I do when there is a defect in the ridge and I want to place a bridge? What can I do to prevent bone loss after I takea tooth out? What factors do I need to consider when a patient has excessive gingival display? What options are available to manage gingival recession?" These problems are often best managed with interdisciplinary approaches. This course will examine the potential benefits of interdisciplinary therapy for handling
conditions that may impact esthetics.

OBJECTIVES
Following this course, the attendee will:
• Be familiar with methods to prevent alveolar bone loss following tooth extraction
• Understand assessment and management of soft tissue margin problems like excessive gingival display and gingival recession
