Why Should General Dentists Learn to Surgically Place and Restore Dental Implants?

OVERVIEW
This course is designed to help those clinicians who are interested in learning how to place dental implants and develop a passion that will help rejuvenate their love for dentistry. THIS COURSE IS TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO GET INVOLVED IN THE SURGICAL AND RESTORATIVE ASPECTS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS. THE SURGICAL COMPONENT IS NOT JUST FOR
SPECIALIST. DO NOT BE FOOLED INTO THINKING THIS WAY. In addition there will be numerous discussions focused on office administration, CT technology, selling the implant treatment plan, financial benefits and much, much more. There will be a review of cases as performed by Dr. Aldridge – The good, the bad and the ugly and how to avoid the latter.
OBJECTIVES
This course will enable the dentist to understand:
• Rationale behind General Dentist learning to surgically place and restore implant(s).
• Local Anesthesia techniques for dental implant surgery.
• Typical treatment planning and review of criteria sheet to help guide you.
• Bone grafting – What, when, where and how.
• The use of membrane, tacks, screws, etc.
• Surgical anatomy – What you really need to know – The real DANGER zones.
• Identifying the CDT implant codes for billing purposes.
• Discussion of the typical “scare” tactics employed by very few specialist for those dentists who want to get started in implementing dental implant surgery.
• How to identify which cases you should start with.
• How to get yourself out of difficult situations when you are performing surgery and/or restoring dental implants.
• Identifying the “high risk” medical patient.
• The importance of surgical guide stents – mandatory.
• Immediate loading and provisional placement – Is it possible? When and where
• Performing immediate implant insertion after extraction.
• Site preservation for future implant placement.
• The importance of learning how to performConnective Tissue grafts.
PRESENTER
Charles “Duke” Aldridge, D.D.S., MAGD, MICOI, FMISCH received his dental degree in 1999 from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Aldridge now resides in Bend, Oregon and owns and operates The Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, www.bendsmiles.com. Dr. Aldridge spends most of his clinical hours performing comprehensive dentistry with special emphasis on dental implant(s) and complete rehabilitations. Dr. Aldridge maintains a CT machine for his implant cases.
