Longhorn Football Dental Study Club in Austin, TX

Implants in the Esthetic Zone

The purpose of this course is to open lines of communication between the surgeon, restorative dentist, and the lab technician by using a position paper. Since most people are not familiar with a position paper I will define and give examples of what a position paper is and how it works. I will cover the importance of records and what type of records will be needed to produce a predictable result. The importance of surgical guides and how to form them will be discussed in detail. It is important that the restorative dentist is responsible for making the surgical guide but many of us are uncomfortable with this responsibility. After this course you will want to be the person in charge of producing and providing the surgical guide.

Many surgeons are now making provisionals for the restorative dentist. I will cover many reasons why this will not work if you are going to control proper tissue contours. The techniques I will be teaching in this course will end your headaches and make your lab love you.

• Responsibilities of the restorative dentist when doing anterior implants
• How to determine where the free gingival margin will end up
• How to let the surgeon know where the place the implant for optimum esthetic results
• Why contours of the provisional are so important
• How to transfer all the information accurately to the lab technician
